Our Program

Our reading program is intentionally designed to be short, focused, and powerful. Instruction is clear and purposeful, free from fluff, busywork, or excessive screen time. This is a low-screen approach rooted in real voices, real books, and meaningful conversation.

Our video lessons are 5–15 minutes each, with one provided for each day, Monday through Friday. Live virtual sessions are 25 minutes and meet twice per week. We begin with a quick hello and joyful book chat (because we’re readers too!), then spend our time discussing the reading strategy students have been practicing that week. There are no gimmicky games — just thoughtful connection and meaningful discussion.

At the heart of our program is real reading — lots of it — using excellent, soul-stirring books your child chooses and enjoys wherever life takes you: curled up at home, stretched out at the beach, or riding in the backseat on a road trip. Muscles don’t grow from watching workout videos, and confident readers aren’t built by endless explanations about reading. Children need to do the work. In the same way, they need sustained, focused reading time to grow in comprehension.

Each week, we introduce one new tool to the reader’s toolbox, practice it together in great literature — and at times through Scripture itself — and then send students off eager to read more. Little by little, the invisible habits of strong readers become second nature. Struggle turns into delight, and your middle-schooler discovers that reading isn’t a chore — it’s an adventure worth waking up for.

Lessons and follow-up activities are created based on the specific needs of each cohort, with instruction thoughtfully building from one week to the next.

The right amount of instruction.
Lots of real reading.
Equipping lifelong readers.

Parent Partnership

This program is a joyful partnership with you, the homeschool parent. We provide the direct instruction and expert guidance; you remain the daily coach and encourager.

Expectations vary by program option, but all families are encouraged to prioritize consistent reading time and thoughtful discussion. For maximum benefit, your child should:

  • spend 30-45 minutes reading each day (we’ll help your child discover books they truly love so this feels like a treat, not a chore)

  • complete 2–3 short written responses per week to deepen thinking and expression

Together, we make reading and thinking second nature—without overwhelming your days.

Schedule

We meet live online every Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday morning for just 25 minutes. Classes are intentionally small (5–10 students) so your child can build real friendships and enjoy lively, faith-filled book discussions with other Christian homeschool families.

Optional weekly 1-on-1 coaching with the teacher is available for an additional fee.

The program runs for 6 weeks, from January 12 - February 13th.
